Rain
After days of torrential rain and strong wind and even a little glorious thunder the sun is shining again and the clothes on the line are finally getting a chance to dry. The plants got a good soaking and are taking in the rays and I am sitting in the back yard taking it all in. The colors are vivid, the birds are singing and it is still, still, still - after all that drama, it feels very still....
been without a computer for awhile . . .
so it’s been hard … to connect, to post, to stay in touch, to watch, to listen, to write … via the computer that is. And, here from Mexico it is how I do so much - talk with my kids, my family, write, stay in contact with so many people and things I enjoy. It is amazing, really, how much I depend on this thing! And, I lost everything when my hard drive died the big death - EVERY...

Trunk Show
A very special thank you to Mary Jordan for hosting a wonderful gathering here in Puerto Morelos! Mary opened her lovely home for my Trunk Show … Tasty things to eat, a fantastic group of people and a showcase for my work. Thanks to everyone who came and bought and visited and for all your support and kind words! It was so much fun! I have to admit to being nervous the night before …...

I love this oilcloth!
Mucho Aire
My sewing machine has been broken - or something … out of whack - Maybe it’s the humidity here in Mexico and the salt in the air that lands on everything, everyday … salt and sand that is blown constantly in my direction from the sea. Hard on things like sewing machines and computers and printers and fruit trees. The fruit trees I spray every day or so with water, giving them a...
It has been too long since I have posted . . ....
My lime tree is budding … beautiful little white flowers that are the sign of tart sweet limes to come … the first from this small tree.
The way the jasmine flowers smell at night.
Dogs that come visiting.
Making paper beads.
The way the birds sound in the morning, right outside my window in the top of the Coco Palm, and the surf in the distance.
Lying on the roof at night, taking...

I love Cia's Palette! →
Cia’s, located in Minneapolis, has gorgeous fabric … and, she will ship to me here in Mexico! I haven’t found anyone else who will and she does it all with a smile. Fabric lovers, check her out … her selection is beautiful. I just placed an order and can’t wait to get a package here in Mexico. The fabric here is so disappointing. I went to a huge fabric store in...
we are here . . . in the place I love
After a grueling trip and tons of gratitude to my son, Zac, for making it all okay and as easy as possible, we are here in Puerto Morelos. My house, sweet as ever, looks great and a few touches of Christmas here and there remind me that it really is December and soon so many of my family will be here for the holiday! The zocolo is festive! A huge and, um, interesting plastic Christmas Tree in...
Upgraded to First Class! And for free… Zac, Buddy and I will arrive happy the day after tomorrow. Yippee!
snow
snow and more snow and then drippy icy rain … perfect getting out of town weather for someone like me and now I know why that mouse ducked into my basement last night. Her (his?) version of the tropics …
a cloudy grey day here in New England and I am dreaming of Mexico … just one week from today and Zac and Buddy and I will be there by this time next Monday. Today, in the basement, surrounded by the unpacking and repacking and trying in vain to somehow whittle it all down it seems a long way away …
Last night I finished six aprons for an order that needed to be done before I leave...
Monday, December 14th is the day I leave for Mexico! Packing, packing packing … tons of art supplies for the classes I’m teaching, piles of fabric, beautiful colorful spools of thread, as much paint as I can carry and paper and lovely beautiful things to create with.
